monsieur Idi

monsieur Idi,

an african craftsman, specialized for traditionell

african roofs made of grasmats. His tribe the peule

originally comes from Mali and Niger. They live in

Senegal now in small villages, integrated and famous

for their handcraft.

I have to call for monsieur Idi , because I noticed big

problems with the roof of the house,he will come for a

visit . Two days later , dressed in a yellow " boubou"

parfumed he is listening respectfully .A slim tall man

with dark skin , dark eyes. How old he could be, a man

without age. Beautiful hands, long fingers, no craftsman hands.

After talking about the details he discussed the price, always

fair and acceptable. He told us the material is needed and we

fixed the command.

Akter another two days, the harmatan was blowing and the heat

comes.Early next morning Idi's people are present to climb up

on thehigh  roof, only secured with big cords. First they have to

remove the old material. Suddenly monsieur Idi is comming, he

looked tired, without voice, so I treated him with my natural 

medicaments, then he looked for his people, giving  instructions

allthough you hardley could  hear, what he was saying. 

Astonished how he managed his people, with respect no problems.

I noticed that the whole old material was for receycling, the old

gras for smoking fish, the old nets for enclosure for his cattle nad

last but not least the rest pieces of wood for the womens cooking 

place, no garbage left. 

Next day a moment of disorder, our calculation was not correct, they

have to wait for a new order of grasmats. Idi do not like that much,

because he want to do his job rally perfect.The problem was solved

quickly and without any harm they finished their work, not forgetting

the necessary ritual, the son of Idi showed me in a secret way. Everything

would be fine, connected with the african spirit.

Next da monsieur Idi felt healthy again and he payed a visit  tome in his

blue sunday boubou to gather his money. This impressing man I keep

in mind. A special guest and always wellcome .
